"We
Fix What Ticks" Serving clock lovers since 1970, owner Ric Gatling began his business in a 60 square foot renovated chicken shed
in Spring City, Pennsylvania. Thirty four years later, in 2004, he bought a 2300
square foot commercial building in Nashville ,Tennessee..........Renovated it to look like this on the outside............. ............and then filled it with hundreds of new and antique clocks to look like this on the inside. For the next 12 years he spent 70 hours each week at his business, selling a wide assortment of new and antique clocks, and repairing between 1300 - 1400 clocks each year. In January of 2016, after 45 years in the business, Ric sold Nashville Clock, and relocated to Placerville, California where he "partially retired" to be closer to his kids and grand kids and opened El Dorado Clockworks. He now takes in clocks "by appointment only" and does in home grandfather clock "house calls" throughout northern California. Ric has built his business on two premises -- that customers’ interest
always comes first, and that clocks are the heartbeat of every home. “With each
resounding tick, a clock reminds us that time is precious,” Ric says.
"A fine clock is most often handed down from generation to
generation," he notes.
When talking to Ric,
it doesn’t take long to feel the exuberance and see the passion that he has for
his work. “After all, I do spend a lot of time at my
business, and I make people happy – I sell them a timeless
treasure, or I fix the one they already have.”
The treasure of Ric and Pam's life are their children and grandchildren (see the "What Really Matters" page), at
which point Ric says, "It's a good thing they take after their
mother (grandmother)."
